今日のブログは、食物栄養学科で英語を担当されているケント先生から、海外語学研修の紹介です。食物栄養学科では、『英語コミュニケーション』という科目を2年間履修すると、希望者は１ヶ月間のニュージーランド語学研修に参加することができるのです。現地では、英語のレッスンだけでなく、食物栄養学科ならではの料理教室や、スーパーマーケットツアーなどのプログラムもあり、充実した毎日を過ごします。

Hello!
My name is Kent Hatashita. I’m from San Diego, California and I am the English teacher in the Department of Food and Nutrition. Today, I’d like to introduce the department’s study abroad to Auckland, New Zealand.
After studying English for 2 years, Food and Nutrition students have an opportunity to study abroad in Auckland, New Zealand for about one month. Students do a homestay, study English in the mornings and experience a variety of activities in the afternoons. The activities allow the students to make the most of their time in New Zealand. Some are specifically chosen for their connection to their studies, for example cooking classes, and a supermarket nutritional tour with a registered dietician. There, they will learn about New Zealand’s food labeling, dietary habits, and major health concerns.

After studying English for one month in New Zealand, students are more motivated to continue improving their language skills. They more clearly understand its importance in a global society.
